Abstract

Background: Nursing is essentially an interpersonal process, in which a competent nurse must be an effective communicator in carrying out the communication process. To avoid the low quality of service provided by health workers (nurses) it would be very wise and appropriate, if a health service institution can improve the quality of service. One form is to improve the ability of good communication and appropriate for nurses. Objective: To know the effect of nurse therapeutic communication on patient satisfaction in Hemodialisa room PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: This research uses correlational method with cross sectional approach. Samples amounted to 33 patients with chronic renal failure taken by purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive and correlative analysis using Chi Square Correlation Test. Results: This study yields findings that most respondents (51.5%) with the implementation of therapeutic communication nurse good category. Most respondents (66.7%) with satisfaction category satisfied. Conclusion: There is influence of nurse therapeutic communication to patient satisfaction in Hemodialisa Room PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital (p = 0.007).
